Abstract / Description

In 2020 Fairbank, Maslin, Maullin, Metz & Associates (FM3) surveyed 813 vulnerable Californians, revealing widespread concern about the coronavirus, with many fearing the worst is yet to come. While economic impacts like job loss and wage cuts are significant, infection remained the primary anxiety. Respondents recognized that low-income communities and people of color are disproportionately affected. Many are using public benefits, but about half are unsure where to seek further help. Persistent concerns include homelessness, cost of living, and housing. The survey underscores the need for better access to public benefits and support for these communities.
