Abstract / Description
This article discusses the global observance of Universal Health Coverage (UHC) Day, focusing on the commitment to provide health services for all without financial hardship. It emphasizes the role of civil society organizations in advocating for equitable health services, particularly for vulnerable groups such as women, children, people with disabilities, and informal workers in low-income countries. The article calls for funders to support education, community organizing, and feedback mechanisms to strengthen UHC efforts throughout the year. It outlines four key areas for funders to help: directing resources to grassroots organizations, ensuring marginalized groups participate in policy decisions, supporting country-specific analytical work, and facilitating meaningful input from low- and middle-income countries in global dialogues. The article concludes with a commitment to advance citizen engagement and government accountability for UHC, especially in countries with active UHC policies, and encourages feedback and ideas from the community.
