Abstract / Description

The Liberated Birth Recovery Fund is a 10-month program in which we provide working families with paid scholarships. This support includes up to three months of paid leave assistance tailored to each family's needs. The fund allocates $2,000 per month for up to three months for full-time workers and $1,250 per month for part-time workers. We also plan to assist those who receive partial paid leave by filling in other gaps, such as Babies Supplies to Thrive, Access to Culturally Congruent Care Teams (ACCCT), or Liberated Birth Justice 101 education. The participating families will undergo a 6-week course with mandatory 6-month budget check-ins. After graduating, they can apply to become mentors, fostering a community of care and support. Our “Pilot Program,” set to Launch in October 2024, will equip 5-6 families with support around financial literacy, birth and reproductive justice, and holistic wellbeing to overcome the emotional challenges of system oppression.
Our program includes a six-week paid leave prep program, along with further group support, self-paced work, and mentorship. We aim to provide more comprehensive support, ensuring families are better equipped to manage the financial challenges associated with unpaid maternity leave. This holistic approach not only addresses immediate financial needs but also invests in the longer-term well-being and stability of the families served. (author description) #P4HEwebinarOctober2024
